2025 was another fantastic Fun Day event for the village of Horam. The weather was a scorcher and we had to unfortunately cancel the dog show, but it was great to see so many people enjoying the sunshine, activities and performances in the main arena, some of the new catering options on offer this year, the Gun Brewery bar and a wide variety of stalls and activities across the event.
This year it was great to welcome back Tim from Pioppi Pizza, Tony and Leanne from Carnival Ice Creams and introducing for the first time at our event, Penny and Lawrence with the Holy Guacamole Mexican food truck, Pete and Gillian from Alfresco Fish & Chips and Mark who kindly brought along the converted airstream bar from the local Gun Brewery. Megan from the Horam Community Pre-school did an amazing job in running the family orientated bar and along with our wonderful volunteers in the village hall kitchen providing tea and cake and the Horam Scouts running the BBQ, we managed to keep everyone hydrated and nicely fed across the afternoon. A wonderful job by all our caterers, thank you.
A huge thankyou to all our performers, Wealden Brass were on great form all afternoon especially when Stephen, their musical director, made an unscripted appearance and ran across the main arena trying to fly a kite as the band played "Let's Go Fly A Kite", which created one or two smiles. Melanie and her friends from Homefront Lindy Hop kept people on their toes and the Pevensey Ukulele group provided a fine soundtrack for our visitors in the village hall.
Rob from Skulldrummery did a magnificent job in kicking-off our event again this year, followed by Jake and the Lindfield Juniors FC hosting our football competition, Jimmy the Juggler doing what he does best in entertaining the children, Lizzie from Diamond Dance showing us all how it should be done, the Anderida Border Morris Dancers with a brilliant display of this classic, and finally the lovely Katey and the BoostFit team making us regret all the food and drink consumed to that point. Everyone did a brilliant job and helped make the afternoon so enjoyable.
The Horam Fun Day is proud to be a family orientated event and this year we were pleased to welcome back Lisa who organised a range of children's activities in the flower meadow and to compliment this we had Steve from 1066 Falcons and Jayne from Fresh Start for Hens located close by along with Adam from Kings Church Heathfield running a treasure hunt and Steve from Old Time Funfairs with our regular carousel ride. Evidence of all this activity was clear as an inflated chicken balloon drifted across the main arena closely followed by a very anxious looking child.
To all our stallholders representing local businesses and community groups, to James from Speedworth Racing and Arlington Recovery, to the Horam scouts and girl guides and to Gerda and PJ from Christ Church, thank you so much for all your help and support.
Finally, this event could not take place without all the time and effort that the volunteers at the Horam Fun Day Organising Committee devote to planning and bringing this event to the local community. We are always looking for people to join us, so if you are interested in joining the team, please contact us by using the contact form at the end of this webpage.
